Projects for 2018

Expanding the number of members

  • By forming chapters of UTYNA in every state, we are planning to increase the number of registered members in the U.S. and Canada. The aim is to develop strong local communities with the ability to propel development in both North America and Tigray.

Distributing Identification Card of UTYNA

  • We will distribute an identification card to each member of our organization. Members will need to pay an annual membership fee of $120 for adults and $60 for college/ high school students. The membership fee equates to $10 & $5 per month.

Tigray Festival 2018 in Tigray

  •  In the upcoming 2018 Tigray Festival, UTYNA will host our own "youth night” event. The event will include several activities designed to support community building, academic development, sports, and overall leisure.

Books and other school related materials

  • The organization is planning to collect books, pens, pencils, notebooks, and other school related materials from volunteers to support students in Tigray.

Laptop project

  •  The Laptop Project seeks to gift a personal computer for the 10-highest ranked Tegaru high school seniors. The laptop is intended to provide the top 5 male and top 5 female high school students with additional access to technology, thereby furthering their post-secondary persistence and success.
  • Members of UTYNA will work on fundraising efforts to acquire funds for the laptops through a series of self and group-initiated events.
